About us

Our pre-school offers children a safe, nurturing environment in which to develop language, self esteem, imagination and a sense of belonging.  We provide high-quality care and education for children between the ages of two-and-a-half and five years of age.  Admission is on a first come, first served basis and there is no catchment area. However, where a waiting list exists, priority will be given to the placement of a three-year-old requiring 15 hours who has no other educational provision.

As a community-based, charity organisation, we depend on the goodwill, commitment and involvement of our parents to keep the pre-school going.  Attendance brings with it an expectation that parents will support and volunteer at the school.  For example, helping out during outings and participating in fundraising activities.

Children can access a place at Gainsborough Pre-school through:

Free Early Education universal funding for 3 and 4 year olds (15 hours per week). All children are entitled to free nursery education the term following their third birthday. Please see our links page.

Free Early Education local funding for 2 year olds (15 hours per week). This is a means-tested offer. Parents/carers will need to apply to the local authority to assess eligibility.

Fee paying (£18 per session-minimum of 3 sessions per week). A deposit and registration fees are payable to reserve your child’s place. The deposit is refunded at the end of their time with us, where the 4 weeks notice have been given.

We accept children for a minimum of three sessions per week to ensure successful parent and child separation and adjustment to pre-school life’ .

Should you wish to withdraw your child, there is a four week notice period. Failure to give appropriate notice will incur a charge.
