About us

About Our Teachers

All our experienced teachers have qualifications in Early Years Care and Education. Their ongoing professional development is a priority for the pre-school, and they receive regular training to keep them up-to-date with current best practice and national standards in Early Years care and education.

When your child starts pre-school, they will be assigned to one of our teachers (key person).  This teacher will work with your child to ensure their specific needs and interests are met and will help with the settling in process.

Ratio of Children to Adults

We maintain a ratio of adults to children based on the legal requirements set out by the Safeguarding And Welfare Requirements of the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage. For the under-threes, the adult child ratio is 1:4; and for three-to-five-year-olds it is 1:8.

These welfare requirements are designed to ensure a safe, welcoming and stimulating setting, where children learn through play and grow in confidence.

During each session we have a minimum of three teachers present. Students and volunteers may also be there in a supporting role. This enables us to give plenty of time and attention to each child, as well as allowing them to be adventurous in a safe environment.

Special Needs Facilities

We are committed to helping children to develop and reach their full potential. We want to ensure that children’s special educational needs are identified as quickly as possible and that early action is taken to meet those needs.  The pre-school leader and Special Educational Needs Coordinator receive training in the latest legislation to identify and assess children with SEN and to ensure that the pre-school team makes provision for the children and their families. The pre-school receives specialist support from the Barnet Early Years inclusion team.  A member of the inclusion team is available to meet with the parents and the pre-school SENCO to assess and develop an Individual Education Plan for any child with special needs.  They can also request extra funding to meet the needs of that child.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any further questions.
